MES to fully provide grades 5-7 with new textbooks - Leskovyi

Education Minister Oksen Lisovyi announced that students in grades 5-7 will be fully provided with new textbooks by the start of the school year. The Ministry of Education is also working on a program to print workbooks for the New Ukrainian School.

Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Oksen Lisovyi said that his ministry would fully and timely provide students in grades 5-7 with new textbooks. He said this during a working visit to Mykolaiv region, an UNN correspondent reports .

The Ministry of Education has allocated funds for the printing of textbooks. We are currently providing textbooks in full for grades 5-7. We are printing textbooks in full and will provide the full range of textbooks required in basic schools by September 1

- says Lisovyi.

He noted that the Ministry of Education and Science is relying on communities to help procure other educational materials, including notebooks, and hopes that they can help with this issue.

"We have a donor program for the first and second grades. We hope that it will allow us to also print workbooks for the NUS by the end of the year. This will ease the burden on parents a little bit," added Lisovyi.
