In one week, the Ukrainian Armed Forces took control of about 1,000 square kilometers in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation. This is 1.7 times more territory than Russian troops seized in Ukraine in the three months from May to August.

In the week since the start of the offensive, the Defense Forces in the Kursk region have taken control of more territory than Russian troops have captured in Ukraine in three months. This is reported by The Moscow Times , UNN .

Details

According to the Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky , the Ukrainian armed forces have occupied about 1,000 square kilometers in the Kursk region. If Russian claims of a border breakthrough on August 6 are to be believed, the operation had lasted almost a week at the time of Syrsky's report.

At the same time, The Moscow Times points to the calculations of Pasi Parojen from the Finnish company analyzing open military data, Black Bird Group. He says that from  May 3 to August 2, the Russian army occupied 592 square kilometers of Ukraine.

It is mainly advancing in eastern Ukraine, in the Donetsk region, destroying small villages and trying to capture Pokrovsk, which is a major supply center for the Ukrainian Armed Forces and is located on the Chasiv Yar hill, offering convenient routes to attack neighboring towns.

In addition, in May, Russian troops invaded the Kharkiv region, but their advance was quickly halted.

Thus, in one week in the Kursk region, Ukrainian units occupied 1.7 times more territory than Russian units occupied in three months in Ukraine

Addendum

It is currently difficult to determine the exact area of territory controlled by the Ukrainian army, in part due to constant fighting and troop movements. However, on Monday, the acting governor of the Kursk region, Aleksey Smirnov, told Russian President Putin that the Ukrainian army had managed to occupy 28 settlements and 480 square kilometers.
