The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets  sent a letter to the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent calling for an investigation into information about the Russian Red Cross's cooperation with a pro-Putin "patriotic" organization. He wrote about this in Telegram, reports UNN

Recently, information appeared online that the president of the Russian Red Cross (RRC) is affiliated with a pro-Putin "patriotic" organization, and RRC employees talk about the impossibility of peace with "Ukrainian Nazis." Moreover, the Russian Red Cross participates in military training camps and exercises for children, where the ideology of continuing the war against Ukraine is spread, and the symbols of aggression "Z" are used

- wrote Lubinets.

He said that he had already sent a letter to the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent in order to:

1. 1. Such actions were publicly condemned.

2. A transparent investigation into the actions of the Russian Red Cross was conducted.

3. For the duration of the investigation, the RCC's membership and participation in the community was suspended.

4. If the investigation confirms the allegations, it is necessary to demand that the organization be expelled from the federation.

The Ombudsman reminded that the RRC is part of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, so it must comply with the mission and principles of the movement. In particular, the principle of "neutrality."

Context

VSquare published an investigation stating that the RCC    regularly cooperates with patriotic military camps in Russia, where children as young as 8 years old are trained to shoot machine guns and participate in combat. In addition, journalists report that in January 2024, the head of the organization, Pavlo Savchuk, signed a cooperation agreement with the Artek children's camp in Crimea. The West imposed sanctions on the camp's director, Kostyantyn Fedorenko, because of the deportation of Ukrainian children.
