Kyiv plans to increase the fare for public transport to 30 UAH, the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA) reported on Monday, according to UNN.
Kyiv plans to update fares for public transport: a single trip will cost 30 UAH. At the same time, a discount system will be in place for passengers who regularly use city transport,
What the fare price will depend on
For passengers who regularly use public transport, a discount system is planned when topping up a transport card. The cost of a single trip will depend on the number of trips purchased:
- 1–9 trips – 30 UAH;
- 10–19 – 28.90 UAH;
- 20–29 – 27.80 UAH;
- 30–39 – 26.60 UAH;
- 40–49 – 25.50 UAH;
- 50 – 25 UAH.
Monthly passes are also provided, where the cost of one trip will be approximately 23.3–23.6 UAH.
Pass prices
Proposed prices for monthly passes:
- 46 trips – 1,088 UAH;
- 62 trips – 1,463 UAH;
- 92 trips – 2,156 UAH;
- 124 trips – 2,888 UAH.
An unlimited monthly pass for the metro, bus, tram, trolleybus, and funicular will cost 4,875 UAH.
Separately, there are plans to introduce a transfer ticket costing 60 UAH. It will allow transfers between the metro and surface transport within 90 minutes without restrictions.
For students and pupils
Preferential conditions are maintained for students and pupils. Thus, students will pay 50% of the cost of a monthly pass, and pupils during summer holidays – 25% (during the school year – free of charge).
For city guests
Special unlimited passes are provided for city guests:
- for 24 hours – 375 UAH;
- for 48 hours – 563 UAH;
- for 72 hours – 750 UAH.
When to expect changes
"The new fares are planned to be introduced from July 15, 2026, after the completion of regulatory policy procedures. And also after consultations with the public and trade unions," the KCSA stated.
Trips purchased on a transport card before July 14, 2026, will remain valid until September 14, 2026.
It is reported that the fare in the capital has not been revised since 2018. The necessity of updating the tariffs, as indicated by the KCSA, is explained by the increase in costs for electricity, fuel, labor, and maintenance of transport infrastructure.
Currently, the fare for public transport in Kyiv is 8 UAH for the metro, buses, trolleybuses, trams, and the funicular, and from 15 UAH for the city train.
