The SBU thwarted attempts by Russian military intelligence to create its own agent cell in Kyiv. A resident (senior agent) of the Russian group, who coordinated the execution of "Russian orders" in Ukraine, was detained in the capital. This was reported by the SBU press service, UNN reports.

Reportedly, the primary task of the cell was to set fire to the official vehicles of the Defense Forces. The aggressor intended that the destruction of military vehicles would lead to a shake-up of the socio-political situation in Ukraine in favor of Russia.
To expose the resident of the game, the SBU used its "double agent" - a resident of the capital, whom the Ukrainian special service exposed on the preparation for one of the arsons. As a result of complex measures, the man cooperated with the SBU and helped to document the suspect's subversive activities.
Thus, according to the case file, the resident was in direct contact with an officer of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces (better known as the game).
She coordinated the arsonists and helped them carry out subversive activities in Kyiv. It is documented that the woman gave direct instructions on how to make improvised incendiary devices, which the attackers were supposed to use to destroy military vehicles.
In addition, she personally tried to film one of the arsons that was to be committed by the "double agent". It was then that she was detained by the SBU.
At the scene, the operatives seized an improvised incendiary device and a cell phone with evidence of subversive activity.
According to the investigation, the suspect came to the attention of Russian military intelligence at the beginning of the full-scale war. At that time, she lived in the city of Tokmak in Zaporizhzhia, and after the seizure of part of the region, she moved to Kyiv.
Already in the capital, she was contacted remotely by an employee of the Russian game and offered cooperation in exchange for money, which she never received.
SBU investigators served her with a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law).
The offender is in custody. She faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Comprehensive measures are being taken to identify and bring to justice other persons involved in this illegal activity, the SBU added.
