European Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrius Kubilius stated that Ukraine must be integrated into the European Union's single market and the common European security system as quickly as possible. He said this during the conference "The Path to the Ukraine Recovery Conference: Security and Defense Dimension" in Rzeszów, UNN reports.
According to Kubilius, Ukraine is currently effectively defending not only itself but all of Europe, which is why the EU must act more decisively.
"We understand that Ukraine is defending Europe. But that is exactly why we must ask ourselves: is Europe doing enough?"
He stressed that Ukraine's recovery is impossible without a security component, and Kyiv must receive sufficient resources to achieve peace from a position of strength.
"We cannot waste time. Ukraine must be integrated into the EU economic space and the European defense system,"
According to him, support for Ukraine must continue until a just peace is achieved, as a defeat for Kyiv would cost Europe significantly more.
