Kirkorov loses to Lithuania in the European Court of Human Rights

On April 18, 2024, the European Court of Human Rights issued a judgment in the case of Kirkorov v. Lithuania. The proceedings considered the complaint of the Russian and Bulgarian singer Philip Kirkorov against Lithuania regarding a ban on entry to this country due to Kirkorov's statements about the "Russian Crimea". Pavlo Pushkar, Head of the Division for the Enforcement of Judgments of the European Court of Human Rights, Directorate-General for Human Rights and the Rule of Law at the Council of Europe, drew attention to the key arguments of the Court in this case in his post on social media.

The applicant publicly expressed support for the occupation of Crimea by the Russian Federation and broadcast messages that the return of the Crimean peninsula to Russia was a glorious and victorious event.
