Italy has scrambled Eurofighter Typhoons to intercept planes flying in Baltic airspace, the country's Defense Ministry has reported. The ministry did not provide any details about which planes were spotted, UNN reports.

Details

The Italian fighter jets took off from the Siauliai base in northern Lithuania after receiving an order from the NATO surveillance center in Germany.

In early August, Italy took command of the Alliance's mission in the Baltic States (Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia).
