Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said during a visit to a naval base in Haifa that Israeli warships destroyed the Syrian Navy during a night operation that is part of a large-scale campaign to eliminate strategic threats to the country.
According to him, Israeli troops continue to strengthen their positions in the buffer zone between Syria and the Golan Heights. The minister also stressed that the order was given to create a "sterile defense zone" in southern Syria without a permanent Israeli presence in order to prevent potential terrorist threats.
