Iran has asked Yemen's Houthis to be ready to block the oil route through the Red Sea if the United States strikes Iran's energy infrastructure. This is reported by UNN citing Reuters.
Details
This idea was discussed within the leadership of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and a corresponding message was conveyed to the Houthi allies, two senior Iranian sources and one regional source familiar with the matter said on condition of anonymity.
At the same time, a source close to the Houthis said the group had completed preparations for an attack on ships, deploying missiles and drones near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait — the gateway to the Red Sea — in the mountainous terrain of Yemen overlooking the Gulf of Aden, and is awaiting the order to begin the operation
Members of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, already in Yemen, will control the decision on when to close the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, a source close to the Houthis said.
Recall
Yemen's Houthis claimed a missile and drone attack on Abha International Airport in Saudi Arabia in response to airstrikes on Sanaa International Airport.
