In the town of Tehuitzingo in the Mexican state of Puebla, gunmen shot and killed at least 10 people. Among the dead are six men, three women, and a child. This was reported by the Associated Press with reference to local authorities, according to UNN.

According to the Puebla public safety agency, the attack occurred early Sunday morning. Federal law enforcement officers are currently investigating the circumstances of the mass murder.
Local authorities have not disclosed whether the identities of the attackers or possible motives for the crime have been established.
As of Sunday, Puebla State Governor Alejandro Armenta had not publicly commented on the incident.
In February, in another town in the state—Huehuetlán el Grande—six people were killed in an attack, and a few days later in the state capital of Puebla, three people were killed after their car was fired upon.
Cartel violence intensifies in central Mexico
The Associated Press notes that central regions of Mexico have recently seen a surge in violence linked to drug cartel activities.
Due to the escalating situation, between 800 and 1,000 families have been forced to flee their homes.
