In the Kharkiv region, a court sentenced three Russian occupiers for the murder of forensic expert Fedir Zdebskyi and a civilian in Izium. One convict received a life sentence, two received 15 years each; the prosecutor's office is preparing an appeal.

In the Kharkiv region, in the case of the murder of forensic expert Fedir Zdebskyi and the torture and murder of a civilian in Izium, the court sentenced three Russian occupiers involved in crimes against local residents during the capture of the city in 2022. This was reported by the Prosecutor General's Office, writes UNN.

Prosecutors of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office proved the guilt of three Russian occupiers who, during the capture of Izium, killed local residents for their pro-Ukrainian stance, the statement says. One of the convicted is a Russian military serviceman, commander of a combat vehicle of the 27th Separate Guards Motor Rifle Brigade of the 1st Tank Army of the Russian Armed Forces

- the statement says.

In May 2022, he came to the pathology department of the hospital in Izium. There was 70-year-old forensic medical expert Fedir Zdebskyi.

After the start of the full-scale invasion, he remained in the city and helped prepare documents for the families of fallen Ukrainian defenders.

When the Russian military serviceman called himself "Kadyrov's nephew," Fedir Zdebskyi openly told him: "Who invited you here? Nobody was waiting for you here." After that, the occupier killed him.

The prosecutors also proved the involvement of the same Russian military serviceman in another murder. Together with two militants of the "LPR," he kidnapped a 57-year-old local entrepreneur, illegally detained him, tortured him, and later killed him. The man was buried under number 311 at the mass burial site in Izium.

For violating the laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder, the Russian military serviceman was sentenced to life imprisonment.

Two militants of the "LPR" were sentenced to 15 years in prison. The prosecutor's office disagrees with this punishment and is preparing an appeal - it will insist on a life sentence.

This is another verdict for the occupiers' crimes against civilians in the Kharkiv region.

The work to bring the perpetrators to justice continues.
