In Nepal, a wild elephant has been pursuing one family for 14 years, killing four of its members. This is reported by The Kathmandu Post, as conveyed by UNN.
Details
As the publication writes, in December 2012, Shanichara Bote lost his parents — Budhiram and Jarala. They were trampled by a wild elephant near the Baruwa market in the Madi area, close to Chitwan National Park.
After this tragedy, Shanichara drastically changed his life to avoid the constant threat of wild animal intrusion. He crossed the Reu River, bypassed the boundaries of the main national park territory, and crossed the Rapti River to settle in Jagatpur. However, despite his desperate migration, the shadow of this aggressive elephant pursued him.
On Sunday afternoon, Shanichara was found in a state of deep shock at the Chitwan district police office. Just a few hours earlier, the same wild elephant had broken into his new home, killing his daughter-in-law Ashika Bote, 25, and his four-year-old grandson Bharat Bote
The publication adds that the ineffectiveness of measures to prevent human-wildlife conflicts in the country's leading conservation areas has led to Shanichara's family suffering a terrible loss, losing four members to a single animal over 14 years.
We believed that moving across large rivers would give us safety. But after so many years, the same elephant found us again, attacked our house, and took my daughter-in-law and little grandson. We have nowhere left to run
Recall
In the state of Jharkhand in eastern India, a large-scale operation is underway to neutralize a killer elephant that has terrorized residents of the Chaibasa district. The animal has already killed 22 people, including an entire family with two children and an experienced expert who was called in to subdue the beast.
Currently, the authorities have completely lost control of the situation, and residents of several villages have been ordered not to leave their homes.
