Winter weather and strong winds complicate the work of tactical aviation and affect drones, which can be simply blown away. This was reported by the spokesman of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Ihnat on Monday during a telethon, UNN correspondent reports.
"The cold weather has set in, as well as the wind, and poor visibility - all this affects the actions of aviation, complicates the work of tactical aviation. As for the UAVs, it depends on the wind, if the wind is strong, it can affect them and simply blow them away. Cruise missiles are less affected by this," Ihnat said.
Details
According to him, a drone is actually an airplane, it has its own flight characteristics, power, range, so bad weather can have an impact.
"Just like we talked about last year with icing, if there is a rapid transition from plus to minus, that is, the fuselage of the aircraft can become iced over, and this can affect it, up to the point where it can just fall. This really complicates things. As for the work of air defense, it also complicates it, if anti-aircraft missile systems can easily destroy aircraft, enemy air attack vehicles, i.e. cruise missiles, drones, then for fire groups, poor visibility is a very negative factor for the effectiveness of their work," Ihnat said.
Supplement
Bad weather blocked 14 highways and caused power outages in 16 regions of Ukraine.
Due to the bad weather, the most snow was on the roads in Odesa and Mykolaiv regions, with drifts up to 1.5 meters high in some places.
