Artem Artyukhov, Head of the Ethics Committee of the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance (NAQA), Associate Professor of Marketing at Sumy State University, PhD in Engineering, has written his doctoral dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Economics. His defense will take place on April 19 at the University of Economics in Bratislava, where he has been working since last year.
On April 11-12, intergovernmental Ukrainian-Slovak consultations were held in Slovakia, during which the two ministers of education, Oksen Lisovyi, head of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and Tomas Drucker, Minister of Education, Research, Development and Youth of Slovakia, met. According to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine , the key issue was Slovakia's comprehensive support for Ukraine in the field of education and science. The Slovak side assured that it would continue to provide opportunities for Ukrainian students and scholars who have found refuge on Slovak soil.
In the context of this event, the Slovak media reported that Slovak universities are doing everything possible to help Ukrainian scientists escape the war, and described a unique case: the University of Economics in Bratislava will host the defense of the doctoral dissertation of Ukrainian scientist Artem Artyukhov.
According to the 2023 declaration , Artem Artyukhov, Chairman of the Ethics Committee of the NAQA, works not only at the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance but also at Sumy State University. In addition, Artem Artyukhov is also active in public life - he is one of the founders and a member of the presidium of the all-Ukrainian public organization Innovative University, and is involved in various international projects.
The choice of the place of defense is not accidental - since February last year , the scientist has been working at the Faculty of Commerce of the University of Economics in Bratislava as a researcher, combining this with his doctoral studies and work and civil service in Ukraine.
If he successfully defends his thesis, Artem Artyukhov will finally change his engineering specialty to economics. In 2009, he became a candidate of technical sciences with a degree in Processes and Equipment of Chemical Technology, and his dissertation was devoted to hydrodynamic factors of granulation devices with a reduced flight height of granules. For ten years, he worked as an associate professor at the Department of Processes and Equipment of Chemical and Oil Refining Production at Sumy State University, and three years ago he moved to the Department of Marketing.
In his doctoral dissertation "Quality Management of Educational and Scientific Activities in the System of State Regulation of the National Economy", the text of which can be found at link, Artem Artyukhov used his experience of working at NAQA.
The official opponents of the thesis were members of the NGO "Innovative University" and participants of the joint project "Innovative University and Leadership" - Yurii Danko (Sumy National Agrarian University), Olha Hrynkevych (Ivan Franko National University of Lviv), and Vira Usyk (Vadym Hetman Kyiv National Economic University).
The Slovak media wrote that Slovakia is proud to be able to contribute to peace and preserve the intellectual potential of the Ukrainian nation.
"Given Ukraine's controversial legislation for men of mobilization age, scientists like Artem Artyukhov usually face a dilemma: go to the front or continue their scientific work. That is why he does not visit his homeland now. Living in a European Union country gives him the opportunity to work fruitfully and not feel the burden and horrors of war," noted the Slovak edition of 24 Hodin.
