The High Council of Justice has suspended Kyiv Court of Appeal judge Yuriy Slyva from administering justice until January 30. He is suspected of taking a bribe, a UNN correspondent reports.
"The petition of the Deputy Prosecutor General - Head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office Oleksandr Klymenko is partially satisfied. Temporarily, until January 30, 2024, to suspend Judge Slyva of the Kyiv Court of Appeal from administering justice in connection with bringing him to criminal responsibility," the head of the body, Hryhorii Usyk, announced the decision.
During the hearing of the motion, the judge's lawyer stated that Slyva's family had posted 50% of his bail.
"If the motion to remove Slyva from his position is granted, not only Slyva will suffer, but also his family, in which he is the sole breadwinner," the lawyer argued.

HACC arrested Slyva with the possibility of bail of UAH 2.5 million and imposing relevant procedural obligations.
Subsequently, Yuriy Slyva was released on bail in the amount of UAH 2.5 million.
Four judges of the Kyiv Court of Appeal, who were caught taking bribes to lift the seizure of a private company's property, were notified of suspicion.
These are Yuriy Slyva, Viktor Hlynianyi, Ihor Palenyk and Viacheslav Dziubin.
