The United Kingdom is working on creating new inexpensive long-range weapons for Ukraine that will not depend on American components or data. This was reported by UNN citing Bloomberg.

According to the publication, within the framework of the Brakestop project, British companies MBDA, MGI Engineering, and Rotron Aerospace are developing three new systems that are to be tested in the UK and Ukraine in the coming months. It is expected that the new weapons could reach the front within a year.
The new weapon is expected to be cheaper than Storm Shadow
As Bloomberg notes, the new missiles will be less accurate and powerful than the Storm Shadow cruise missiles, but their cost will be approximately half the price of the Anglo-French missile. If a Storm Shadow costs about $1 million per unit, the new systems are expected to cost approximately £400,000 excluding the warhead.
At the same time, the new weapon will have a range of over 500 kilometers and carry a warhead weighing at least 225 kilograms. The developers also emphasize that the missiles will not contain American components and will not depend on American navigation or data transmission systems.
According to Bloomberg sources, all three companies have stated their readiness to produce at least 40 units of weapons per month within three to four months after receiving an order. In case of failure in the competition, the manufacturers plan to offer their developments directly to Ukraine or other European states.
