Russian energy giant Gazprom has delivered the first shipment of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Italy from the Portovaya LNG plant on the Baltic Sea, Reuters reports, citing LSEG data, UNN reports.

Gas supplies to Italy via Gazprom's pipeline have fallen sharply since 2022 after Russia's war against Ukraine, while LNG supplies by sea have increased, the publication points out.
According to LSEG, the Cool Rover gas carrier arrived at the Fsru Toscana terminal in the port of Livorno yesterday. So far, Gazprom's comment has not been received.

The small Portova LNG plant with an annual capacity of 1.5 million tons was commissioned in September 2022. The first shipments were delivered to Turkey, Greece and China.
In addition, in March, Gazprom delivered the first batch of LNG to Spain.
