French Prime Minister Michel Barnier will resign on Thursday morning after losing a vote of confidence, BFMTV TV channel reported, citing informed sources.
“Michel Barnier is expected to submit his and his government's resignation to (French President Emmanuel Macron) at the Elysee Palace this Thursday, December 5, at 10:00 a.m. (9:00 a.m. GMT).”
Michel Barnier's government was dismissed on Wednesday with 331 votes. 288 votes were enough to oust him. The unprecedented alliance between the leftist New Popular Front and the far-right Marine Le Pen, who for the first time since 1962 expressed no confidence in the executive branch, won. President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron is already working on appointing a new head of government.

The vote will not affect Macron's mandate, but his future is also in question, as he appointed Barnier and his party is in government.
