The former head of Bozhkivska penal colony No. 16 in Poltava region received a 400% bonus and a pension after systematic violations and facts of torture and beatings of convicts were revealed. This was stated by Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets. He called on the State Bureau of Investigation to investigate the case, UNN reports .

Lubinets reminded that at the end of May he drew the attention of the Ministry of Justice to the published facts of torture of convicts of the Bozhkovo Correctional Colony No. 16, revealed in 2022-2023.
On June 6, the ministry launched an internal investigation into the facts of torture and extortion of prisoners' property in the colony.
The study found that in July 2023, during an internal investigation, without waiting for the final conclusions, the head of the institution was dismissed at his own request with a 400% bonus to his salary "for special achievements in work" and other cash payments totaling almost UAH 400 thousand
Moreover, according to the Ombudsman, in December 2023, the former head of the institution managed to get a decision to set the maximum pension level for him.
"Investigators of the State Bureau of Investigation should determine why, after the systematic violations and facts of torture and beatings of convicts, the management of the SPS of Ukraine decided to unreasonably and illegally accrue 400% of the bonus to the head," Lubinets called.

At the end of May, the SBI and the Office of the Prosecutor General announced that four officials of the Bozhkovska Correctional Colony (No. 16) in Poltava region were served with a notice of suspicion. They are suspected of torturing prisoners.
