This letter was received by the Le Havre City Hall on Wednesday, March 19. In an anonymous letter addressed to the current Mayor of Le Havre, Edouard Philippe, agents discovered death threats against the former Prime Minister "in connection with Edouard Philippe's announced intention to run in the next presidential election," according to a statement from Le Havre Prosecutor Soazic Guillas. The prosecutor added that the envelope also contained a "fired cartridge case."
The current mayor's team stated that Edouard Philippe had filed a complaint. An investigation has been launched into "threats of murder or damage to property that pose a danger to people, regarding an elected official." The interdepartmental directorate of the national police has been notified.

In March 2023, Edouard Philippe had already received a letter with a death threat and the inscription "Allahu Akbar." The letter also contained a whitish powder.
