The Security Service of Ukraine said on Friday that it had collected new evidence of high treason on the part of former Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Volodymyr Sivkovych and served him with a new suspicion, UNN reports.
The Security Service has collected new evidence of high treason on the part of former Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Volodymyr Sivkovych, who is hiding in Russia and working for the FSB. The former official was involved in organizing large-scale information campaigns aimed at artificially discrediting Ukraine's top military and political leadership in favor of the Kremlin. For this purpose, he engaged prominent politicians in Kyiv, including Nestor Shufrych, who is suspected of treason. It was he who was one of the main "speakers" who, under Sivkovych's coordination, promulgated Kremlin narratives during speeches on television and on the pages of online publications- the SBU reported.
Details
According to the SBU, it was found that Sivkovych's associates "dispersed" fake reports about the internal situation in Ukraine, as well as Moscow's "theses" about the "lack of alternatives" to the pro-Russian vector in foreign policy.
"In this way, the Kremlin tried to destabilize the situation inside Ukraine as much as possible before the start of Russia's full-scale invasion and discredit official Kyiv in the eyes of Western partners," the intelligence service said.
In order to avoid justice in 2014 for attempts to disperse the Maidan by force, Sivkovych reportedly left for Moscow, where he began organizing massive information sabotage against Ukraine's state security.
"This is one of the priority tasks that Sivkovich performed on the instructions of the staff of the 9th Directorate of the Operational Information Department of the 5th FSB Service," the SBU said.
Based on the evidence collected, SBU investigators notified Sivkovych of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons), the SBU said.
Addendum
Earlier, according to the materials of the Ukrainian special service and the State Bureau of Investigation, his actions were qualified under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
▪️ part 1, article 255 (creation, leadership of a criminal community or criminal organization, as well as participation in it);
▪️ part 1, article 111 (high treason).
"Since Sivkovych is hiding in Russia, comprehensive measures are being taken to bring him to justice," the SBU said.
