Rescuers have managed to localize the fire at the Dnipro hydroelectric power plant in Zaporizhzhia region, which started as a result of a Russian attack on the night of March 22. The hydroelectric power plant is currently out of service, and detailed information on the plant's condition is expected by the end of the day. This was announced by Ukrhydroenergo CEO Ihor Syrota during a telethon, UNN reports.
"The main fire is localized. However, there is still smoke in the engine room, and it is difficult to allow specialists to examine the equipment," said Syrota.
He pointed out that the plant is not working, because of the Russian missile attack, there is extensive damage to the equipment of the DniproHES.
"Unfortunately, there are large hits and missiles hitting the engine room of HPP-2," said the head of Ukrhydroenergo.
According to Syrota, detailed information on the condition of the station is expected by the end of the day.
Yuriy Belousov, head of the Department for Combating Crimes in the Context of Armed Conflict of the Prosecutor General's Office, said that eight missiles hit the Dnipro HPP, so the damage to the facility is very significant.
Due to the Russians' attack on the Dnipro hydroelectric power plant, specialists of the State Environmental Inspectorate of the Southern District recorded a leak of oil products into the Dnipro River.
