The European Union will introduce new sanctions that provide for a ban on the import of gas condensate from Russian projects, including "Yamal LNG", starting from January 1, 2027. The relevant decision has been published in the Official Journal of the EU. Reuters reports this, writes UNN.

This concerns restrictions on the supply of light fuel, which is a by-product of liquefied natural gas production. The sanctions will also affect other Russian LNG projects.
The decision was made against the backdrop of further strengthening of the EU's sanctions policy against russia due to the war in Ukraine. Previously, the bloc had already banned imports of Russian oil and coal and significantly reduced purchases of energy resources.
At the same time, in 2022, gas condensate was not included in the sanctions due to the need to ensure stable LNG supplies.
Supply volumes
According to the agency, in 2024, "Yamal LNG" exported more than 1.1 million tons of gas condensate to Rotterdam, which is more than the previous year.
Gas condensate is used as raw material for the production of fuel and petrochemical products.
