People's Deputy Andriy Kozhemyakin, who is one of Yulia Tymoshenko's defense lawyers, believes that the Prosecutor General's Office is exerting pressure on witnesses in the case of those who ordered the murder of Yevhen Shcherban. Kozhemyakin said this today after the end of the court hearing in this case, reports a correspondent of
“The theater of the absurd called the ‘criminal case against Yulia Tymoshenko regarding the murder of People's Deputy Shcherban’ continues. The main customer and director is the President of Ukraine with his executors, namely the Prosecutor General's Office. But, unfortunately for the President, it will likely turn out that they are not working entirely cleanly. And this was clearly visible today when, in response to the question to the witness ‘where did you come from, where were you, and with whom did you consult’ regarding the issues he was answering, he said clearly — ‘with the investigator of the Prosecutor General's Office’,” said A. Kozhemyakin.
“Moreover,” the People's Deputy added, “the witness refers to Mr. Kyrychenko, who, as we have already said, was a drug-dependent person who took heavy drugs, and it is unknown today whether he is still an addict or has recovered. That is, to the question of whether this drug addiction was used during blackmail, as well as pressure for the purpose of extracting any testimony, the witness did not answer anything. But this is today's reality. This is how today's prosecutor's office works.” As a reminder, as reported by
, today the investigating judge of the Pechersk Court, Viktor Kytsyuk, began the interrogation of the second witness in the case regarding the murder of Yevhen Shcherban — businessman Serhiy Zaitsev — at the Kyiv Court of Appeal.
Witness Serhiy Zaitsev said that his late wife was the sister of Petro Kyrychenko, who at one time was an assistant to Pavlo Lazarenko. S. Zaitsev noted that he and his wife were engaged in business in Dnipropetrovsk, and Kyrychenko joined them. Later, P. Lazarenko joined their business.
As a reminder, Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka stated that the investigation has evidence of Yulia Tymoshenko's involvement, along with Pavlo Lazarenko, in ordering the murder of Ye. Shcherban. Yesterday and today, the interrogation of key prosecution witnesses has been taking place in this case.
