A spokesperson for the fire service control center said that by evening there were 13 calls in the Cottbus area. Firefighters were mainly called due to broken tree branches and fallen trees.
Severe thunderstorms in parts of Saxony-Anhalt led to numerous calls to fire and rescue services. According to emergency dispatch centers, there were at least 70 incidents related to flooded basements, flooded streets, and trees or branches blocking roads. No one was injured.
In Derenburg, streets were flooded after heavy rain, and hail also fell. Firefighters were called to clear flooded roads. In Ermleben, federal highway 185 was flooded in the area of Endorferstrasse.
After a severe storm with heavy rain and thunderstorms, the fire department in Dessau-Roßlau received reports almost every minute about flooded basements and streets, as well as water leaking through roofs.
