According to eyewitnesses, a series of explosions occurred during the attack. Videos published on social media show thick black smoke rising over the territory of the plant. There is no official information yet about the extent of the damage or possible casualties.
"Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat" is one of the largest petrochemical complexes in Russia. According to The Moscow Times, in 2024 the enterprise processed 7.2 million tons of crude oil, which is about 2.7% of the total oil refining volume in the Russian Federation.
In September 2025, this oil refinery had already been attacked twice by Ukrainian drones. At that time, a fire was reported at the primary oil refining unit, but the head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, claimed that the enterprise continued to operate normally after the strikes.
