The court found a deputy of the Cherkasy City Council guilty of justifying Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine and glorifying its participants (Part 1, Part 3 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The court sentenced Cherkasy City Council deputy Oleksandr Zamirail to 5 years in prison without confiscation of property for justifying Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine and glorifying its participants.
The deputy was a member of the parliamentary faction of the banned political party "Opposition Platform - For Life" and is currently an assistant to the People's Deputy of Ukraine.
Prosecutors proved in court that in June-July 2022, the city council deputy expressed pro-Russian views and Russian propaganda narratives in conversations with his close relatives and acquaintances. He justified and recognized the legitimacy of Russian aggression and supported the actions of the occupiers on the territory of Ukraine.
In addition, Zamirailo admired the rule of the Russian president, praised the Russian army and wished for a victory over Ukraine, hoping to take up leadership positions in the event of the occupation of Cherkasy region.

In August 2022, the SBU detained Zamirail. The court subsequently imposed a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention.
