Ukraine presents its decarbonisation report and energy plan to the COP28

The government is developing plans to increase the share of renewable energy in the structure of electricity production in Ukraine. Renewable sources will account for 27 percent by 2030.

On COR28 Ukraine presented a preliminary version of the National Energy and climate plan at the the period 2025-2030. As reported by the Ministry of economy of Ukraine, it we are talking about increasing the share of renewable energy sources and reducing emissions, reports UNN.

Until 2030, we will we expect that 27% will be renewable energy sources in the end energy consumption, methane emissions will be reduced by 30%, and we will we will gradually abandon the use of coal until 2035. Now we are still we are discussing other ambitious goals and will be happy to present them in the first draft NPEK in December 2023-January 2024

5 December in the framework of UN Climate Conference COP 28 Ukraine presented a report on decarbonization energy sector until 2050 and the previous version of NPEK. Deputy Minister Alexey Sobolev spoke about the goals and results of the first simulations for NPEC.

More than 20 countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom, approved the COP28 declaration on tripling nuclear power capacity until 2050.

German Galushchenko he stressed the importance of these intentions for Ukraine, where nuclear generation even after the occupation of Zaporizhia NPP continues to produce more than 55% of the country's electricity.
