The Kyiv Oblast Children's Hospital has signed a memorandum of partnership with the Italian Meyer Clinic. Ukrainian doctors will be trained in Italy, and seriously ill children will be able to receive treatment in Florence.

The Kyiv Regional Children's Hospital in Boyarka and the Meyer Children's Hospital in Florence have signed a memorandum of international medical partnership, UNN reports citing the Kyiv RMA.

Details

The International Medical Partnership is an initiative of First Lady Olena Zelenska aimed at raising the standards of medicine in Ukraine. The projects are coordinated by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

"The children's hospitals in Florence and Boyarka are highly specialized medical institutions that have unique experience to share with each other. We, together with the governor of our sister region Tuscany Eugenio Giani, have been actively working to strengthen cooperation between them," said Ruslan Kravchenko, head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration

Thanks to the cooperation of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation and an Italian humanitarian organization operating in Ukraine, four doctors from Kyiv Oblast - a neonatal surgeon, a general surgeon, a combustiologist and a pediatric oncohematologist - have started a three-week internship at the Italian Meyer Clinic. Here, they will learn advanced Italian methods of treatment and care for children. The doctors will gain experience in such important areas as surgery, oncology, pediatrics, and the latest approaches to treating complex cases.

"Governor Giani also assured us that the Italian clinic is ready to treat our seriously ill children.  In addition, Ukrainian neurosurgeons from the regional hospital will also undergo training here. This is an extremely important opportunity for our doctors, as they face new challenges every day. During the war, medical facilities often operate in extremely difficult conditions. We have the opportunity to provide our children with the best treatment according to European standards. Together we are making medical care in Kyiv region more efficient and accessible," added Kravchenko.

The knowledge and skills gained during the internship will allow doctors to introduce innovative treatments and help patients more effectively. Cooperation with international partners opens up new horizons for improving medical services and provides an opportunity to get the best of world medicine.
