A ship from Russia was detained in the German port of Rostock. It was found to be carrying sanctioned goods that were supposed to be delivered to the United States. This was reported by the Süddeutsche Zeitung, according to UNN.

The Rostock Port and Maritime Administration reported that due to the presence of goods on board that were subject to EU sanctions, the vessel received a detention order from customs. Therefore, it is forbidden to leave the port.
It is noted that the 193-meter-long cargo ship flying the flag of the Marshall Islands entered the port of Rostock for repairs on March 4 due to technical problems with the propeller. According to the authorities, the damage was probably caused by driving on ice. The newspaper said that the ship had arrived from Russia.
The responsible head customs officer in Stralsund noted that the ship's cargo, like all goods imported into the EU, is subject to customs supervision. In this context, compliance with foreign trade restrictions, including sanctions against Russia, will be checked. In this particular case, the investigation is still ongoing. Customs did not provide any details about the cargo.
Meanwhile, journalists found out that the ship was headed to the United States and was loaded with, among other things, birch wood and enriched uranium for American nuclear power plants. The total value of the cargo is about 40 million euros.
