A court in the Saxon town of Weißwasser has ordered a police officer to visit the Auschwitz-Birkenau memorial after he posted the Nazi slogan "Alles für Deutschland" ("Everything for Germany") on WhatsApp and Instagram. The judge issued him a warning and ruled that if he fails to comply with the requirement, the officer will have to pay a fine of 4,200 euros. This was reported by Bild, according to UNN.

According to the case files, the defendant first posted an image with this phrase in his WhatsApp status and later repeated it in a comment on Instagram.
In court, he claimed that he did not consider himself a supporter of right-wing extremism and questioned the very criminality of the formula. In contrast, the prosecution emphasized that such an attitude toward "obviously prohibited symbolism" could not be expected from a police officer.
The judge stated that a trip to Auschwitz could offer the defendant more than a conventional punishment and ordered him to register for a visit to the memorial and complete a guided tour of the former camp grounds within a year.
