"This year, botulism was diagnosed in Khmelnytsky region for the first time. An elderly woman is in a serious condition in the intensive care unit of the Khmelnytsky Infectious Diseases Hospital," the statement said.
It is noted that the preliminary cause of the disease is the consumption of home-canned meat. Doctors are taking all the necessary measures in accordance with the treatment protocol. In particular, the woman was injected with antibotulinum serum.

"First of all, we urge you to use canned vegetables, meat and fish with caution. After all, botulism is a food poisoning that can lead to serious consequences. At the same time, in most cases, botulism can be avoided by following simple food rules," the statement said.
