In the first month, more than 1.7 thousand service members, their representatives, and others took advantage of the new mechanism for personnel in AWOL (unauthorized leave) that launched in May, the SBI reported on Thursday, UNN writes.
Details
The SBI reported that it is working to ensure that service members who are ready to restore their status can return to duty quickly and without unnecessary obstacles.
To this end, the Bureau introduced an internal mechanism that allows investigators to promptly carry out the full range of procedural actions to prepare for the closure of criminal proceedings under Art. 407 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Unauthorized abandonment of a unit or place of service) and Art. 408 (Desertion).
This algorithm allows military personnel who went AWOL under the pressure of circumstances to quickly go through all organizational stages and return to their comrades-in-arms as promptly as possible, the SBI indicated.
The mechanism only began operating in May of this year. However, in the first month alone, it was used by more than 1.7 thousand service members, their representatives, etc. Most inquiries were received via the telephone hotline, by mail, or through the corresponding inquiry form on the SBI website. All inquiries received by the Bureau are already at various stages of processing,
