"In Kyiv, the aftermath of the russian attack is being liquidated: rescuers are clearing rubble, searching for people, and providing assistance," Zelenskyy wrote on social media.
In the city, according to him, damage has been recorded at over 20 locations, and mostly these are ordinary residential buildings. An ambulance station, a research institute, a hotel, and enterprises also suffered destruction.
"As of now, it is known that 13 people, unfortunately, died from this russian strike. My condolences to their families and loved ones. More than 90 people were injured. Everyone in need is receiving all necessary assistance. Five injured in Kharkiv region, including a child, and two in Kyiv region, where strikes were also on civilian infrastructure. The russians also struck this night in Sumy region, Dnipro region, Zaporizhzhia, and Cherkasy," Zelenskyy stated.
Overall this night, he continued, russia launched more than 70 missiles of various types at Ukraine, almost half of which were ballistic, and almost 500 attack drones, including jet-powered "shaheds." "The main strike was directed precisely at Kyiv. A significant number of attack means were shot down by our sky defenders, but not all," Zelenskyy noted.
"Supplying air defense to Ukraine is an absolutely priority and critical issue. It is important that there are contributions to the PURL program: this is what directly works to save lives. Each of our bilateral agreements with partners on air defense truly helps. I am grateful to all leaders who help," Zelenskyy emphasized. "And it is especially important that our agreements on the production of anti-ballistic systems move toward implementation. We also greatly count on the decision of the United States regarding licenses for 'Patriots' and other joint work: this is what can stop the war and similar strikes. Thank you to everyone who is with Ukraine, with our people, with our protection of life."
