President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy began a working trip to the Odesa region with a coordination meeting with the command of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. During the meeting, they discussed the security situation in the south of the country, strengthening air defense, and developing the combat capabilities of the Navy. This was reported by the Head of State, as reported by UNN.
According to Zelenskyy, the main focus of the meeting was on countering constant Russian attacks using strike drones and missiles, readiness for possible threats from the sea, as well as the development of long-range capabilities, communication systems, mine countermeasures, and support for marine infantry units.
"The main focus is on countering constant Russian air attacks with 'Shaheds' and missiles, readiness to counter threats at sea. Also on our deep strikes, strengthening communication systems, mine countermeasures, and the training and support of marine infantry soldiers. We discussed increasing the number of helicopters to strengthen air defense in the region to counter drones," Zelenskyy reported.
The President also noted that the military presented the technical strike capabilities of the Navy, including the 'Neptune' and 'Harpoon' missile systems, the latest unmanned systems, and torpedoes. Following the meeting, further needs were identified to strengthen the combat capabilities of the Ukrainian Naval Forces.
