President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is working on returning the remains of prominent Ukrainian figures buried abroad to their homeland. The head of state announced this in his video address, UNN reports.

According to the president, Ukraine has a "moral duty" to rebury its heroes on their native soil.
"Our Ukrainian heroes of different eras, who defended the idea of independence, fought for our state, and are buried in Europe, America, and various countries. We are bringing them back,"
The president noted that the process for the reburial of Colonel Andriy Melnyk and his wife Sofiya has already begun.

Ukraine is preparing decisions regarding Konovalets and other figures
Zelenskyy also reported that decisions are being prepared regarding the return of the remains of other historical figures.

The head of state emphasized that Ukrainians deserve to preserve their own historical memory.
"The Ukrainian people deserve their historical memory, and we are strengthening this true memory,"
The president added that the Office of the President's team is currently focused, in particular, on implementing this task and thanked everyone helping in the process of bringing Ukrainian figures home.
