President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that French leader Emmanuel Macron has changed his position and started talking about Russia's "inevitable defeat" because he no longer trusts Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. The head of state said this in an interview with Le Monde and BFMTV published on March 11, UNN reports.
I think he realized that Putin had deceived him personally. Putin had given his word to some leaders that there would be no large-scale invasion, just a few days before. This is why Macron no longer trusts Putin
According to him, it took some time, but the result is obvious.
"There is one more reason, and I don't think Macron will mind if I say it. Yesterday [Sunday, March 10 - ed.] during our conversation, I thanked him for devoting so much time to Ukraine. He replied: "Of course, but I want you to know that I do it for France." He is well aware that by defending Ukraine, he is defending Europe - and France. I think he realized that," Zelensky emphasized.
