The Russian military command has transferred 5,000 troops from the front line in Ukraine to the Kursk region to stop the Ukrainian offensive. This was reported by journalists of The Wall Street Journal, UNN reports.

Details

The interlocutors said that Russia had transferred several understaffed brigades. One of them was transferred from the Donetsk region of Ukraine, while others were redeployed from less strategically important areas.

Nevertheless, the sources are confident that in order to regain territory in the Kursk region, the Russian military command will have to withdraw even more troops from the front in Ukraine

According to the source, the Russian army would need a group of 20,000 well-trained soldiers for such an operation

Meanwhile, Western military analysts estimate that Ukraine has deployed up to 6,000 soldiers to Kursk, and another 4,000 are in Sumy region to perform support tasks

The source emphasizes that Ukraine formed this group from reserve forces in order not to weaken the troops on the front line.
