US Vice President J.D. Vance described the delay in troop deployment to Poland as a routine rotation. Washington is reviewing its presence in Europe, seeking to encourage Brussels to "take on greater responsibility."

U.S. Vice President JD Vance told reporters on Tuesday that the deployment of American troops to Poland has been delayed, but added that it is incorrect to claim that U.S. forces are being withdrawn from Europe. This was reported by Reuters, according to UNN.

Details

According to Vance, the United States wants to encourage Europe to "take more responsibility" for collective defense.

"We are not talking about withdrawing all American troops from Europe. We are talking about redistributing some resources in a way that maximizes America's security. I don't think that's a bad thing for Europe,"

- the U.S. Vice President said.

The publication indicates that Washington is reviewing its military presence in Europe. At the same time, it has long been expected that the U.S. would reduce it following President Donald Trump's demands that NATO play a larger role in the continent's defense. The Pentagon has not yet detailed how it envisions the future deployment of troops across Europe.

"We have not reduced the number of troops in Poland by 4,000 personnel. We have only delayed the deployment of troops that were supposed to be sent to Poland; this is not a reduction, it is just a standard rotation delay that sometimes happens in such situations,"

- Vance explained.

It is noted that reports of a change in the deployment of 4,000 troops to Poland drew sharp criticism from American lawmakers concerned about the possibility of Trump abandoning his allies.

Recall

The day before, General Alexus Grynkewich, NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Europe, confirmed that the U.S. will withdraw 5,000 troops from Europe in accordance with the plans of the Donald Trump administration.
