Details
Answering a question about tax increases and the current budget deficit in the country, in particular, funds for the Armed Forces, Sergii Marchenko said the following:
Yes, it was $5 billion in May, and now it is $6 billion. But we still need to cover the needs, given that we transferred funds from the military's salaries to the purchase of weapons earlier this year. This brings the total need to UAH 500 billion, which we have provided for in the budget amendments. This is approximately $12 billion
According to the official, the military “usually operates with numbers that start with trillions.
Thus, the Minister of Finance of Ukraine, when asked “does this satisfy the relevant military authorities?” remarked:
Of course not
Recall
Ukraine's budget deficit this year may exceed 20%, but despite the significant deficit, Ukraine hopes to cover these costs through regular financial support and high liquidity of banks, as well as additional resources from the domestic market. This was stated by Deputy Governor of the National Bank Yuriy Heletiy.
