Ukraine received €3.9 billion from the European Union – the first tranche for defense needs under the new financial instrument Ukraine Support Loan, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and the Ministry of Finance reported on Tuesday, writes UNN.
Another €3.9 billion from the European Union has been received into the special fund of the State Budget. These funds will be directed to financing priority defense needs - the production of Ukrainian drones, strengthening the capabilities of the defense industry, and ensuring urgent supplies for the needs of the front. This is the first tranche of defense support under the new financial instrument Ukraine Support Loan
"These funds will be directed to what is critically important for our resilience today: strengthening Ukrainian drone production, the defense industry, and meeting the needs of the Defense Forces. For Ukraine, it is important that EU support is becoming not only large-scale but also more predictable," commented Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko.
The Prime Minister also indicated that on June 25, €3.2 billion was received into the state budget for budget support under the same loan. Thus, the total amount of funds received by Ukraine under this instrument is €7 billion.
Ukraine Support Loan provides up to €90 billion in financing for Ukraine in 2026-2027. In 2026, up to €45 billion should be available to Ukraine, of which €28.3 billion is for the defense component.
