Ukraine plans to resume electricity exports to neighboring countries on August 25. Tomorrow, an auction for access to interstate crossings to Romania, Hungary and Moldova will be held, UNN reports, citing Ukrenergo.
Details
According to the company, the heat in Ukraine began to subside yesterday, and on Friday morning, consumption dropped significantly. In addition, a power unit at one of the nuclear power plants was out of scheduled maintenance. This leads to a surplus of capacity in the Ukrainian power system during the daytime, when solar power plants are actively operating.
In order to avoid accidents, the power system must operate in a balanced manner - the amount of energy produced in each minute must match the amount of energy consumed.
Ukrenergo emphasizes that there are two ways to overcome the surplus:
- limiting the generation of Ukrainian solar power plants;
- resumption of electricity exports during daytime hours.
Given the economic inexpediency of restricting the operation of solar power plants, Ukraine plans to resume electricity exports to neighboring countries starting August 25. Tomorrow, an auction will be held for access to interstate crossings to Romania, Hungary, and Moldova. This will help avoid restrictions for Ukrainian electricity producers
In addition, Ukrenergo clarified that exports will take place exclusively during the period of surplus - during the active operation of solar power plants. During periods of maximum consumption, when there is not enough capacity in the power system, electricity will not be exported from Ukraine.
