Ukraine has created a register containing more than 600 people convicted of sexual crimes against children, designed to prevent their reoffending by restricting their contact with minors.

Ukraine has formed a register of those convicted of crimes against children on sexual grounds, which will become a safeguard against contact with criminals. Now there are more than 600 criminals there  this is reported by UNN with reference to the Office of the prosecutor general.

The Office of the prosecutor general has completed the basic stage of filling out the Unified Register of persons convicted of crimes against sexual freedom and sexual integrity of a minor 

- the message says.

It is reported that the register is an automated electronic database created to ensure the collection, storage, protection, accounting, search, and generalization of data on persons who have committed criminal offenses of this category. It also includes those whose criminal record for crimes has been removed or extinguished in accordance with the procedure established by law.

"Currently, with the participation of juvenile prosecutors, the Register includes data on all abusers of children who committed crimes before its creation. This is more than 600 criminals," the report says.

The Office of the prosecutor general notes that the formed register will prevent the re-Commission of crimes against the sexual integrity of children.

"A person gets into the electronic database on the basis of a court guilty verdict that has entered into legal force. It contains information about the surname, first name, patronymic of the convicted person, date of birth, place of residence or stay, and the crime for which he was convicted. It will also contain data on the criminal penalty, the actual sentence served by him and violations of the rules of administrative supervision," the report says.

 A circle of persons defined by law will have access to the register. In addition to law enforcement officers, these will be principals of schools and kindergartens, heads of state administrations and heads of local self-government bodies.

"Thanks to this opportunity, they will be able to protect children from contact with persons who have committed criminal offenses on sexual grounds. And as a result, in the future - the Prevention of crime against minors and minors," the UCP explains.

Juvenile prosecutors are currently working systematically to further fill out the register.
