The government will add 51 new drugs to the 'Affordable Medicines' program starting July 2026. The initiative's budget for this year has been increased to 8.7 billion hryvnias.

The government is expanding the "Affordable Medicines" program. The updated list, which will take effect in July 2026, will include an additional 51 international non-proprietary names of medicinal products. This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, as reported by UNN.

According to Svyrydenko, these include "medications for blood pressure control, treatment of heart failure and heart rhythm disorders, prevention of blood clots, lowering cholesterol levels, as well as therapy for patients after myocardial infarction or those at high risk of stroke."

The "Affordable Medicines" program, the Prime Minister noted, allows Ukrainians to receive necessary drugs free of charge or with a partial co-payment via an electronic prescription.

In 2026, its budget increased to 8.7 billion UAH. Since the program's inception, more than 6 million Ukrainians have already used it, with nearly 2 million patients in early 2026 alone.

To receive medications under the program, a patient must consult a doctor, obtain an electronic prescription, and take it to a pharmacy displaying the "Affordable Medicines Available Here" sticker. Importantly, if a Ukrainian manufacturer offers a drug that meets the established requirements and has the lowest price, it may receive preference for inclusion in the program. This will promote the development of domestic pharmaceutical production while simultaneously strengthening the stability of providing patients with necessary medicines
