The International Monetary Fund forecasts that Ukraine's economy will grow more than twice as fast as the eurozone economy by 2031, provided a large-scale post-war reconstruction begins. This was reported by Euronews, citing an IMF forecast, writes UNN.
Details
According to the Fund's estimates, the average annual growth of the Ukrainian economy will be 3.8%, and in 2028 it could reach about 4.2%. At the same time, the eurozone economy, according to the IMF forecast, will grow by just over 1% per year until 2031.
The main factor for such growth in Ukraine should be post-war reconstruction. The forecast is based on the assumption that hostilities will subside and a large-scale reconstruction of the country will begin, stimulating investment. According to the World Bank, the cost of rebuilding Ukraine is about $600 billion.
At the same time, the IMF emphasizes that the scenario significantly depends on the course of the war. If hostilities continue, in a negative scenario, Ukraine's economic growth in 2027 will be only about 1%.
"The outlook remains extremely uncertain as the war continues to deal a heavy blow to the population and the economy,"
