The United Arab Emirates has secretly carried out military strikes against Iran. This was reported by UNN with reference to The Wall Street Journal.
Details
The strikes targeted an oil refinery on the Iranian island of Lavan in the Persian Gulf, according to sources familiar with the situation. The attack took place in early April, around the time U.S. President Donald Trump was announcing a ceasefire in the war following a five-week air campaign.
The attack resulted in a major fire that disabled a significant portion of the plant's capacity for several months.
Meanwhile, the U.S. declined to provide official comments. However, they noted that Donald Trump has all possible options at his disposal, and the U.S. possesses maximum leverage over the Iranian regime.
Additional Information
Iran has concentrated a significant portion of its strikes on the UAE, launching more than 2,800 missiles and drones at the country—significantly more than at any other nation, including Israel.
These attacks have dealt a serious blow to the UAE's air travel, tourism, and real estate markets, and have led to a wave of furloughs and layoffs.
In military terms, the UAE is significantly outmatched by the U.S. However, they possess a well-trained and combat-capable air force equipped with Mirage aircraft and a fleet of modern F-16 fighters, supported by aerial tankers, command and control aircraft, and surveillance drones.
As a reminder
U.S. allies in Europe are increasingly concerned about a key Trump administration program to arm Ukraine amid the depletion of American weapons stockpiles due to the war with Iran.
