"I haven't made a final decision yet. A lot will depend on Greenland," Trump told reporters.
He added that he would consider withdrawing troops "if we don't make" a "very favorable deal in Greenland."
Trump, the publication writes, has privately stated that he would withdraw up to a third of American troops currently stationed in Europe. He has also regularly expressed a desire to take control of Greenland, which he insists the U.S. needs for national security purposes. He has expressed interest in buying the island or having the U.S. seize it by force or economic coercion, even as NATO ally Denmark and Greenland have firmly rejected the idea.
During the NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, this week, Trump reiterated that he wants to obtain this territory, but hinted that he knows it will cause problems for his relationship with the alliance.
