Trump has officially nominated Doug Bergam to head the Department of the Interior and plans to appoint him as chairman of the newly created National Energy Council. This was reported by CNN, according to UNN.
It is noted that Bergam and his wife Katherine attended the gala of the American Policy Institute, where Trump unexpectedly announced his choice. Before the event, he discussed with journalists “the connection between energy and national security” in the context of conflicts abroad, as well as the US war with China over artificial intelligence.
We have these wars abroad, both in Russia and Iran, where they are financing the war against us with their energy and the failed sanctions of the Biden-Harris administration, where, you know, they have actually increased their revenues during this time to finance terrorism and wars,
He also noted that artificial intelligence will win not only against software developers, but also against those who have enough electricity to run it.
“Over the past four years, our power grid and capacity have deteriorated significantly,” he added.
North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum expressed his gratitude to Donald Trump for appointing him to the post of Interior Secretary and chairman of the newly created National Energy Council.
As Trump himself explained, the newly created council will include representatives of all departments and agencies involved in the permitting, production, generation, distribution, regulation, and transportation of all forms of American energy. The council will be responsible for making the United States a leader in energy by cutting “red tape,” increasing private sector investment in all sectors of the economy, and focusing on innovation instead of old and unnecessary regulations.
