Ukrainian law enforcement agencies exposed and detained an agent of the Russian special services who was passing them sensitive information regarding Ukraine's energy security. The detainee turned out to be an expert in the energy sector and has experience working at specialized enterprises, UNN reports, citing the Office of the Prosecutor General.

According to the investigation, the suspect, acting with the assistance of Russian special services, tried to obtain the position of a top manager at an enterprise that holds a monopoly in Ukraine's energy sector. This would have allowed influencing key decisions in the enterprise's activities.
If the suspect were appointed, the Russian special services could have gained access to information about vulnerabilities, the protection system, and the operation of Ukraine's critical infrastructure facilities
It was also established that the individual was recruited by the Russians at the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
The detainee was notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law).
Currently, a preventive measure has been chosen for him - detention without the right to bail. The article's sanction provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 15 years with confiscation of property.
